A cultural heart taking shape
Our Cultural Heart is about far more than bricks and mortar. It is about people and place – building on and celebrating the character and culture of our diverse and exciting town.
Following the successful opening of the new Huddersfield Library Hub and Queensgate Square in Summer 2026, the vision is already becoming a reality. Together, they are creating a welcoming destination at the heart of the town and laying the foundations for what comes next.
What’s next?
The next major milestone is the new food hall, which is set to open in Summer 2027. This vibrant new venue will showcase the very best of the region, bringing together independent food and drink offerings that reflect the rich creativity and culture of our communities.
Looking further ahead, Phase 2 will see the town’s former central library building beautifully restored into a flagship museum and art gallery for the region. Alongside this, a new urban public park will create an accessible, welcoming green space at the heart of the town centre, providing a focal point for residents and visitors of all ages.
